As a candidate for the PfISD board of trustees, my priorities include focusing on student-centered learning, improving teacher quality and support, addressing achievement gaps, providing equitable resources, fostering community engagement, and promoting innovation and creativity. By working collaboratively, we can ensure that every student has access to a high-quality education that prepares them for success in the future.

 LIST OF ISSUES

TEACHER RETENTION

Attracting and retaining teachers requires a multifaceted approach that addresses their needs for compensation, professional development, positive work culture, growth opportunities, supportive policies, and communication. By implementing these strategies, school districts can create a more attractive and supportive environment for teachers, which can lead to better outcomes for students and the community as a whole.

STUDENT OUTCOMES

Improving academic, social, and emotional outcomes for all students requires a comprehensive approach that addresses the needs of the whole child, fosters a positive school culture, provides opportunities for enrichment and engagement, supports professional development for educators, and creates partnerships with families and the community. By implementing these strategies, school districts can help ensure that all students have the support and resources they need to succeed

LIBRARIES

School libraries should be a place where students have access to a wide range of books and materials that encourage critical thinking, promote diversity and inclusion, and support their educational goals.

SCHOOL SAFETY

Improving physical safety on school campuses requires a comprehensive approach that includes conducting security audits, developing and implementing safety plans, training staff and students on safety protocols, increasing physical security measures, promoting a positive school climate, and addressing the root causes of violence. By taking these steps, schools can help ensure that their campuses are safe and secure for everyone.

DECLINING STUDENT ENROLLMENT

Our campaign is dedicated to ensuring that every student has access to a high-quality education, regardless of budget constraints or demographic changes. We will work tirelessly to explore innovative strategies and partnerships that will help us meet the challenges of our changing district. By coming together as a community and supporting our schools, we can ensure a bright future for our students and our district.

BUDGET DEFICIT

With a deficit of $7 million and lower student enrollment and attendance than predicted, the budgeting process for the 2023-2024 academic year will be challenging. Our campaign is committed to finding sustainable solutions that will ensure the financial stability of our schools while providing our students with the education they deserve.
